DePuy Orthopedics in August 2010 announced a recall of certain hip implant systems and "ASR" surfacing for hip implants. Serious health problems and symptoms including, but not limited to, pain and increased levels of certain metals in the blood can be associated with defective hip implants and surfacing systems.
